Description   U.S. GI HBT Fatigue Pants. WWII U.S. GI Herringbone Twill Fatigue Uniform. In May 1941, the War Department announced the introduction of the new green herringbone twill (HBT) uniform. It was meant to be worn over the OD Wool uniform in cool weather, but could also be worn as the summer tropical combat dress. Impregnated with an anti-vesicant compound, it was issued for use in the D-Day Normandy landings to the 4th ID and by all regular units afterwards.   According to "Doughboy to GI" these are the Trousers, Herringbone Twill, Army and was the third pattern of HBT trousers used during WW2.  They were essentially a modification of the second model HBT trousers which added a bellows to the side pockets to allow bulky items such as rations or grenades to be carried.  These trousers began being produced in mid 1943 and were used until the end of the war. Our HBT reproduction is made like the original from 100% cotton twill in the correct sage green color, but without the anti-vesicant.
