Description   U.S. GI HBT Fatigue Jacket. WWII U.S. GI Herringbone Twill Fatigue Uniform. In May 1941, the War Department announced the introduction of the new green herringbone twill (HBT) uniform. It was meant to be worn over the OD Wool uniform in cool weather, but could also be worn as the summer tropical combat dress. Impregnated with an anti-vesicant compound, it was issued for use in the D-Day Normandy landings to the 4th ID and by all regular units afterwards.   According to "Doughboy to GI", these are the "Trousers, Herringbone Twill, Army, M-1943".  This was the most common pair of HBT trousers used during WWII.  The pockets had an expanding panel (bellows) down the rear seam and bottom and the front edge was sewn directly to the trousers.  These are faithfully reproduced in our HBT Trousers.   They are made like the originals from 100% cotton twill in the correct OD-7 green color, but without the anti-vesicant.
